Jamie Leeson, Autism Specialist
Southwest KS

Background: My background is in human development, gerontology, and applied behavior analysis. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Science from Oklahoma State University and later completed a Master’s in Special Education with a focus on Applied Behavior Analysis at Arizona State University. I’ve worked in human services for over a decade and began specializing in ABA therapy in 2022. I first joined IBT as a Registered Behavior Technician, providing direct therapy and collecting behavioral data. My passion for working with children with autism and supporting their families led me to grow within the organization, and I now serve as an Autism Specialist, supervising staff and overseeing individualized ABA programs across settings.

Area of Expertise/Focus: My primary focus is on early intervention and adolescent ABA therapy.

Motivation: What motivates me most about the work IBT does is its commitment to individualized, evidence-based care that truly centers the client and their family. I’m especially driven by the opportunity to create meaningful change in the lives of children with autism-supporting their communication, independence, and overall quality of life. IBT’s emphasis on collaboration with families, schools, and community partners aligns closely with my own values. Being part of a team that prioritizes ethical practice, caregiver involvement, and long-term outcomes inspires me to keep growing as a clinician and advocate.

Hobbies/Passion: Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors, especially going on walks with my pets. Music is another big passion of mine-I enjoy just about every genre and especially love going to concerts with my husband. Cooking and trying out new recipes, cozy nights with a good TV show, and making time for mindfulness and personal growth also help me stay grounded and energized.

Favorite Memory at IBT: One of my favorite memories at IBT was helping a young client who initially struggled with communication begin using their AAC device to independently request their favorite toy for the first time. Seeing their face light up-and their caregiver’s emotional reaction-was such a powerful reminder of why this work matters. Moments like these, where a small breakthrough creates a big impact for a family, make working at IBT so meaningful to me.
