Mikayla Lawless
Clinical Supervisee / Behavior Specialist

Background: I began my career with IBT over a decade ago, starting in direct support roles and progressing into clinical positions as my training in psychology and applied behavior analysis advanced. My time at IBT provided invaluable supervision and professional growth in diagnostic assessment, interdisciplinary collaboration, and systems-level implementation. The organization’s strong integration of behavioral and mental health services greatly influenced my continued work in developing trauma-informed and evidence-based assessment models statewide.

Area of Expertise/Focus: My focus at IBT centered on clinical assessment and integrated behavioral health care for children and families. I specialized in conducting comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, functional behavior assessments, and treatment planning to address both developmental and mental health needs. I collaborated closely with multidisciplinary teams—including behavior analysts, therapists, and medical providers—to ensure care was holistic, coordinated, and person-centered.

Motivation: IBT’s commitment to comprehensive, collaborative care is deeply motivating to me. The organization understands that effective treatment is more than behavior change—it involves supporting the whole person within their environment. I am inspired by IBT’s dedication to quality assessment, team collaboration, and bridging behavioral and mental health services to create meaningful, sustainable outcomes for individuals and families.

Hobbies/Passion: Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and appreciating the small things in life. I love exploring new places across Kansas, listening to psychological thrillers and character-driven audiobooks, and finding small ways to keep each day meaningful and balanced.

Favorite Memory at IBT: One of my favorite memories was watching a child make meaningful progress after weeks of collaboration between the clinical and behavior teams. Seeing how consistency and compassion helped build trust with the child and their family was a powerful reminder of why this work matters. It highlighted the heart and dedication within IBT’s culture.
